The Alder Street Home was purchased in the summer of 2015 and one of the first projects to tackle was the re-invention of the stairwell. The final result includes a combination of 3 woods; Douglas-fir, Birds Eye Maple and Zebra wood. Inset below the handrail on the balustrade is a strip of programmable RGB LED lights and the fan above the stairwell is new but tweaked with bubble glass shades and Edison light bulbs.
Gillie and Marc are a pair of Australian artists that not only collaborate on their art and sculptures but on their lives as well. The hybrid human/animal dog and rabbit sculptures represent themselves with Gillie being the rabbit and Marc being the dog. Whether dog or rabbit or other, all of Gillie and Marc’s sculptures are incredibly detailed, mixing just the right amount of traditional craftsmanship with whimsical portrayals.
We created two dog beds out of necessity for our own two dogs, Xena and Dax and the dog gates where designed and created for a neighbour out of necessity. I say out of necessity because in both cases there was nothing on the market that fit our or our neighbours needs.
