BowWow Haus London Auctions off unique Dog Houses to Benefit Pets in Need
BowWow Haus London is a fundraising collaboration between Blue Cross, American not-for-profit, Outdoor Arts Foundation and photographer Drew Gardner. Through this collaboration a network of architects, artists and designers created an amazing selection of one-of-a-kind dog houses to benefit pets in need.
TLA Studio with Loiuse Glazebrook designed and created this dog house pod for BowWow Haus London. I love how the pod can be open or closed and how the “panes” of wood are each stained a different colour on the inside.
Above left is a mosaic masterpiece by Tamara Froud of Mosaic Art and above right is a multi dog condo by SPARK Architects – Reservoir Dogs. Both are super colourful with one embracing warm shades and the other cool blues and metalics.
Rasta Geary Taylor created a soccor themed palace for BowWow Haus London. Each pillar features a soccor player while the roof showecases a miniature soccer field. Now all fido needs is the ball!
Above left is an upcycled car part dog house by Ptolemy Elrington for that street wise pooch. Above centre is a mosaic kennel by Sue Penrose Mosaics that radiates beams of colour from the entry way and sports a more traditional subway pattern on the sides. Above right is wicker creation by Serena de la Hey that comes complete with a Dachshund statue on top of the roof.
Roselind Wilson Design took the mainstream interest in shipping containers into the small scale with this miniature container complete with a kitchen and bedroom. True to shipping container architectural design, this dog house boasts blasts of graphic colour.
Barbara Irakoska created a dog house for BowWow Haus London that is topsy turvy in design. There is no set top, side or bottom, take your pick.
All the worlds a stage and Travis Alan Mills and Russell Watson have memorialized that stage in this super fun dog house that comes complete with two spot lights, wood curtains and so much more. When the curtain goes down and its time to travel to a new local, the above right dog house by Studio Lisboeta is the perfect travelling case Made from laminated bent wood strips it has its own built in handle.
Studio Octopi, Bluet and Creasy with Rebecca Adlington OBE designed a dog house for water that comes with its own access ramp so your pooch can climb up and relax after a swim and when ready go for a dive off the top. This would be a fun addition to any backyard pool.
Jules Burt painstakingly created the bedazzled dog kennel above left. It comes complete with 3 miniature paintings on the interior wall and a graffiti signature. Above right is a blue castle with led lights surrounding the entry by Petplan and Laura D’Alessandro of Henson Franklyn. Above right is a Street art creation of dog bones and The phrase Bow Wow. Designed by Heather Richardson, the asymmetrical opening doesn’t quite follow the line of the letters.
Above left is a wood cube design by Hasan Al-Rashid whose curvy cut outs and bullnose edges create a sleek and sexy dog house perfect for any pooch. Above right is Cloud by Patrik Schumacher for Zaha Hadid Design. This curvaceous wood design is big enough for large dogs while cuddly enough for small ones as well.
Martha Deambrose and students from Tampa Preparatory School created the above left mosaic design that comes complete with bubble windows so your pooch can put his/her head in it and survey the scene from every angle while staying protected. If you like glitz and gold the above right design by Eileen Goldenberg is the perfect creation for you.
Allsion Shelly-Redd has designed a dog house for BowWow Haus London that looks completely different from every angle. The entry features a mosaic of linear tiles set above a lower level of stonework, much like a house with a stone base and vertical boards above. Inside the dog kennel is painted a mesmerizing scene of the night sky, winter trees, the moon, an alarm clock and hills of checkerboard roads. The exterior sides are a collage of tiles in rainbow and floral patterns while the back sports broken tea cups and a broken tea pot. Just wow.
Above left is a mid century modern design by Rosa Gamarra while above right is a sleek and contemporary mirrored dog house by Design Haus Liberty. The mirrored design has 4 entry archesm a comfy pouf in the centre, a look out above and four mirrored entry platforms made from the removed archways.
Here are 3 super fun dog houses. Above right is a Lego creation by Christina Fallah, Sterling Studios and Lightplan. Above centred is a string wrapped 5 spine wood creation by Green Tea Architects and Ben Fogle. Above left is a lucite box filled to the brim with colourful tennis balls designed by Denizen Works, Cantifix and Arrant Land.
Stephanie Ong designed the above left mosaic dog dog house with lanted roof and clerestory window on the side. Dee Rodgrques and Silas Beach designed the Bob Marley dog house in the centre and FleischmanGarcia disgned the above right 60s style dog house with corner entry.
Above left is a gold egg with a red velvet interior. Designed by FT Architects with Bruce Oldfield OBE it brings to mind the goose that laid the golden egg. Above right is a mid-century modern design by DLM Architects and it comes complete with a patio!
Above right is a hand painted design by Jim Warren. Above centre is a mosaic landscape design by Emil Minkov and above right is another mosaic design with an eastern influence by Ivan Djidjev.
Above left is a artsy design by Sally Evans. Above centre is a mosaic creation by Denise Jaques of Mosaic Happy. Above right is a child inspired design by Rich Brown.
Above left is a mosaic design by Sue Smith Glass. Above centre is a wedding cake of all things by Jeff Monsein. Above right is a muted mosaic design by Sarah Stanley Mosaics.
This soft hand painted design is by Joanne Osborn. The soft palette of colours and the sketchy imatgery create the affect of watercolours on board.
YELO Architects designed the above left corner entry dog house. The structure has an interesting woven wood siding. Gruff Ltd designed the above right dog bed with a cork pillow complete with a corner cut out for food and drink containers.
Above left is a Condy Lofthouse Architects and Anne Robinson design. It comes with an outdoor kitchen area and a covered mini deck. Above right is a Brian O-Tuama Architects, Evolve Projects London and Bolon design. The simplicity of the design evokes Japanese aesthetics.
This multi-functional design is by Formation Architects with Bill Cleyndert & Company. Both a side table for your living room and a dog house it also has a dog toy storage compartment which this pooch looks very adept at opening.
Above left is a stone dog house by Jay Goulde, Matt Maynard and Erik Palmgren. Above centre is a design called Russian for Fish with Danny Steadman. Above right is an asymmetrical subway tiled black design by Jay Goulde, Avon Modular, JCON Commercial, Troy and Carolyn Sector.
PiM.studio Architects created a design that can sit on its head – or side – or back. It’s a fun asymmetrical dog house that defies a specific top and bottom.
Above right is a mobile dog house by PLYable Designs and EDable Joint. Above right is a vertical mirror image dog house by Carl Trenffield Architects.
Above left is a corner opening dog house by JH Collective which is designed to include a cat shelf as well. Above centre is a mosaic circus design by Jane Perkins that includes a row of clowns on each side. Above right is a concrete plaza design called Bark-alona Pavilion complete with wind canopy and water feature.
Above left is a tiled doghouse featuring angled cut outs by Greta Sanders Kusterbeck and Nigel Milligan fro Tons of Tile. Above centre is an appliqued almost all white design with the look of 3D flowers by Francesca Busca. Above right is a black, white and red tiled design featuring squares, circles and an octagonal opening by Chelsea Commodari.
Say Cheese! This super fun dog house is also a photo booth. Created by Studioshow it has a backdrop, a curtain for closing out the light and in this case a photographer too!
Above left is a puffy upcycled plastic bottle design called PET House by Spark Architects. Above right is a barrel roof dog house design by Chris Dyson Architects which comes complete with food and water dishes that flank the opening on either side of the stairs
