Rabbit Weathervanes – 14 Functional Outdoor & 1 Decorative Indoor Design
Weathervanes are such a fun way of adding a bit of both art and science to the outdoor aesthetic. Traditionally featuring roosters, contemporary weathervanes feature almost any animal large and small. What makes rabbit weathervanes so interesting is the way they often incorporate a story line, whether the rabbit is stealing carrots, being chased by hound dogs, or in the as in the above photo representing pages inside a Beatrix Potter book. In fact, this particular rabbit weathervane is found in the Beatrix Potter Garden in Dunkeld, Scotland.
Outdoor Rabbit Weathervanes

The two above weathervanes; Rabbit Running and Rabbit with Carrot are both handsculpted by Ferro Weathervanes and the carrot even has 23kt gold details.
Pictured above is a large copper rabbit weathervane with gold leaf details on the scroll, horn, tunic hearts, collar, horn, arrow and cardinal letters. By GREENS Weathervanes, this regal rabbit is none other than Sir Tenniel’s white rabbit from Alice in Wonderland.
This rabbit needs to be ultra fast because he has not one, but two hounds chasing him. A free-hand hammered copper design by Weathervane Sculpture, this is Saluki and Greyhound Chasing a Rabbit.
Dancing Rabbits and Rabbits with Fence Weathervanes are both handcrafted with 14 gauge steel that are lasercut in one piece and then zinc plated. By Garden Fun these two designs are just that – fun.
Dorset Weathervanes makes this fun Rabbits design that includes a patch of cabbage. Handmade, zinc primed and powder coated in black gloss this is definitely a storytelling design.
This Leaping Rabbits Weathervane is by GREENS Weathervanes and is a custom repousse copper weathervane with a banner that has a chiselled inscription.
Above is a custom, handmade design by Marian Ives, Metalsmith. I love how this rabbit is watering the cabbage, getting ready for a garden feast!
The two above rabbit weathervanes are almost the same. Can you spot the difference? One has ears up, the other down. Both are by West Coast Weather Vanes and are called Jackrabbit Leaping or lepus Timidus. A sleek design with a stylized interpretation, these copper weathervanes are meant to convey speed and beauty. I think they do.
Large Curious Rabbit stands 19” tall on a 24” arrow and is by SkyArt Studio and Gallery. The simplicity and size of this design makes it ideal for viewing from a distance – such as on top of a house.
Also a standing rabbit and also by SkyArt Studio and Gallery, this is White Rabbit with Cane and is hand crafted in Meriden, Connecticut.
White Rabbit with Horn is a slightly chunkier rabbit that still conveys the Alice in Wonderland storyline that the previous White Rabbit with Cane does. Needless to say this is another SkyArt Studio and Gallery design that is handcrafted in Meriden.
Indoor Rabbit Weathervane
Finally, to finish this collection here is an indoor rabbit weathervane called Jumping Jack Rabbit. Jumping Jack is a decorative metal cottontail that lives, laughs and loves through Live Laugh Love of course and that sentiment seems to be the perfect way to end this list.
